Mumbai Metro crosses symbolic threshold of 100 mn passengers

This is going to be a short post as the title pretty much says it all! As per the Railway Gazette, the Mumbai Metro which started operations on June 8 2014 has already crossed the 100 million passenger mark! That’s a 100,000,000 rides covered at an average of 274, 000 passengers a day. The system, which currently consists of an 11.4 km line, is also the 8th densest system in the world. These figures will continue to rise (both in numbers and rankings) as the city’s population of around 22 million is increasing by an estimated 4% a year.
