[Pics] Jaipur Metro’s TBM 2 to Soon Start Tunneling towards Choti Chaupar

With Jaipur’s TBM 1 successfully passing beneath Chandpole Gate on its way to the Choti Chaupar station,  TBM 2 is now ready to start tunneling! As per an engineer working on site, TBM 1 has placed 165 precast rings so far and once 200 rings are placed as part of the initial drive, the TBM’s operations will be halted for maintenance and repairs. During that time, tunneling work by TBM 2 is expected to commence.

As a reminder, under Phase 1B of the Jaipur Metro project, the existing line is currently being extended by a distance of 2.35 kms from Chandpol station to Badi Chaupar via the Choti Chaupar station by a JV company comprising of Continental Engineering Corporation and their Indian division – CICI. I expect this section to be operational by the end of 2017.
