Piling Work Begins for Phase 2 of Bangalore’s Metro Project at 2 Locations!

As the title explains, work on Phase 2 of Bangalore’s Metro project has officially begun!

IL&FS Engineering, one of the contractors of the Purple lines’s 6.465 km elevated section between Mysore Road and Kengeri, has deployed piling machines at two locations, one at the entrance to the Bangalore University’s campus and the second at location where the Rajarajeshwari metro station will come up. These piling machines will help to build the foundation for the piers (pillars) of the line.

As per a BMRCL official:

One could see huge machines drilling adjacent to Mysore Road. At present contractors are carrying out prerequisite work for laying the foundation. Work has begun where land is made available. We have already issued compensation packages in some of the cases and we will take physical possession of the land by November.

As per a recent report last week, owners of properties between Nayandahalli and Kengeri were compensated by the BMRCL for acquiring their land.

As a reminder, the construction of a 3.9 km part of this extension was awarded to IL&FS Engineering in April (See: IL&FS wins Bangalore Metro contract) to construct the elevated viaduct between Mysore road station to the RV College station, including four elevated metro stations at Nayandahalli, Rarajeshwari Nagar, Bangalore University (Jnanabharathi) and RV College (Pattanagere).

In Phase 2, besides the above extension, the Purple line will also be extended to Whitefield in the eastern part of the city after which the line’s length will more than double from 18.10 km to 40.10 km. To cater to the new trains that will be inducted, a new depot will be built on 35 acres of land at Kengeri.

    Hi,

Bangalore government can also raise funds from the public via government official websites. This will motivate people in contributing for the society and to enrich their own lifestyle. Please think about it.

    Thanks,
    Mohan
