[Pics] Chennai Metro Dismantles TBM at AG-DMS (Gemini) Station

Remember the TBM that made a final breakthrough for Chennai’s UAA-03 section at AG-DMS (Gemini) station on September 1? If not, then see: TBM Makes Successful Breakthrough at Chennai’s AG-DMS/Gemini Station.

This TBM was originally deployed by the Gammon – Mosmetrostroy JV on the Saidapet – AG-DMS section, but Mosmetrostroy abruptly abandoned tunneling in March due to “rising costs”. Since only a few meters were left for tunneling, the Afcons-Transtonnelstroy JV was brought in to complete the job. The TBM was then dismantled and is now out of the tunnel. Here are some images:

It isn’t clear to me what Afcons has decided to do with the TBM, but whenever I find out, I’ll make sure to tweet about it from my Twitter handle.
