Images from Inside the Jaipur Metro’s Tunnel Between Chandpol & Choti Chaupur

Here are some nice new images shot on Diwali night from inside the Jaipur Metro’s eastbound ‘up-line’ tunnel between the Chandpol shaft and Choti Chaupar station which is being built as part of the Phase 1B project! In this phase, the existing line is currently being extended by a distance of 2.35 kms from the Chandpol station to Badi Chaupar via the Choti Chaupar station by a JV company comprising of CEC & CICI (same folks who recently made a breakthrough in Bangalore).

Tunneling here began in June and the TBM recently crossed underneath the Chandpol gate in a very precarious operation that got completed without any major or permanent damage!

The TBM working on this tunnel is expected to make a breakthrough at the Choti Chaupar station in about a month from now, sometime towards the end of December. As a reminder, tunneling by TBM #2 began on October 3o (see images) and in the next 2 months will be passing underneath the Chandpol gate.
