L&T Infra to Design 9 Stations on Nagpur Metro’s Khapri – Automotive Square Line

The Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation Limited (NMRCL)’s Managing Director Brajesh Dixit recently gave a brief overview of the progress made on Nagpur’s upcoming metro system. One of the updates included news on L&T Infrastructure Engineering Limited winning the Detailed Design Consultancy contract to construct 9 stations on the north-south Khapri – Automotive Square line! The stations within this contract include:

• At-Grade: Khapri, New Airport
• Elevated: Airport, Ujwal Nagar, Jai Prakash Nagar, Chatrapati Nagar, Ajni Square, Rahate Colony and Congress Nagar

NMRCL’s MD indicated that the stations will have a sleek, modern look and be “similar to the ones of Dubai Metro”. While that seems outlandish and impossible with the limited funds the organization has, I do hope more metro organizations look at the RMRG’s station designs (see example) in Gurgaon to emulate.

Meanwhile, work on the installing precast boundary walls along the at-grade (ground level) section of the line in MIHAN/Khapri area is progressing nicely!  The NMRCL plans to install solar panels throughout its length to generate electricity. Two images from the site:
