Tata – Gülermak Awarded Contract for Lucknow’s Underground Section

This news shouldn’t come as a surprise if you’ve been following this project on TMRG! 😉

Last week, the Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation awarded the Tata –  Gülermak JV with a Rs 1190.52 crore contract to build Lucknow Metro’s 3.44 km underground section (package LKCC-06) including 3 stations for the 22.878 km north-south line. Here’s an excerpt from the UP government’s press release published by the Hindustan Times:

The contract has been awarded to messers Gulemak TPL, a joint venture which emerged as the lowest eligible bidder.

The LMRCL is quite good with publishing notices for all contracts awarded on their website’s tender page, so whenever they do that, I’ll make sure to update this post.

To recap this section’s history, the LMRCL had invited bids for this package in October 2015 after which 5 firms qualified through the RFQ stage in February 2016. The LMRCL had estimated this package to be worth Rs 1280 crores and opened the financial bids towards the end of March to reveal the following bid amounts:

Firm Bid
Tata – Gülermak JV Rs. 1185 cr
Soma – DOGUS JV Rs. 1244 cr
ITD – ITD Cem JV Rs. 1379 cr
Afcons Rs. 1401 cr
L&T – SUCG JV Disqualified

The 3 stations included in this section are Hussainganj, State Secretariat (Sachivalaya) and Hazratganj:

With this contract awarded, now LKCC-01, LKCC-02 and LKCC-06 have been awarded which total roughly 12 km in length. The bids for the 8.63 km LKCC-07 section between KD Singh Babu Stadium and Munshipulia are expected to be opened on May 16 after which it will take another month or so for them to be technically evaluated.

Coming back to LKCC-06, I expect ground work to begin by the end of June as the Tata-Gülermak JV has just 36 months to finish all tunnels and station work. If all pieces fall into place without any delays, then the earliest I expect this section to open up for commercial operations would be in the middle of 2020.

Sorry, I’m unaware. You can try going onsite and asking an engineer about it.

If that doesn’t work out, then go to their casting site at Sector 19, Vrinadavan Colony.
