The Systra – Egis Rail – AECOM Asia – RITES consortium has won Nagpur Metro’s General Consultant contract! They emerged as the ‘preferred’ candidate after a thorough evaluation of both the technical (weighed at 80%) and financial (weighed at 20%) bids last week. Their role in Nagpur Metro’s project would be to manage all contracts and supervise the construction & implementation of it as per the specifications on behalf of the Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation Ltd.
The process to find a General Consultant began in July 2015 with the NMRCL inviting ‘expression of interest’ (EOI) submissions from technical services firms. In February, the following 3 consortia were shortlisted and requested to submit their bids:
1. Systra – Egis Rail – AECOM Asia – RITES JV
2. Deutschbahn International – Deutschbahn Projektbau GmbH – Hill International – Oriental Consultants Global Co Ltd – Balaji Railroad Systems – Padeco JV
3. Ayesa – Korean Railway Network Authority (KRNA) – Geo Data – Aarvee Associates – Yooshin Engineering Corporation JV
An announcement about this news hasn’t yet been made, but is expected after the contract is finalized in the coming weeks. Once that is done, the Systra–Egis–AECOM–RITES JV team will replace personnel from RITES & the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation who’ve been helping out the NMRCL as the project’s interim consultants since April 2015.
June 11 update – Official announcement has been made confirming their appointment.
