Soil Testing Begins for Lucknow Metro’s Underground Section

The Tata – Gülermak JV has started their geotechnical site investigation in Lucknow’s Hazratganj area just a month after being awarded the contract to construct the metro project’s 3.44 km underground package (LKCC-06) from Charbagh to KD Singh Babu Stadium! This section of the 22.878 km north-south line includes 3 stations at Hussainganj, State Secretariat (Sachivalaya) and Hazratganj.

Although the DMRC’s 2013 Geotechnical Investigation Report was made available to all interested infra companies during the bidding stage, the Tata – Gülermak JV like any other contractor is re-validating those findings to place an order to buy/lease Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) with the right specifications.

In the coming days, more such sites are expected to crop up along the route after which piling work to build the 2 ramps & 3 stations’ foundations will begin.
