CMRS to Inspect Chennai Metro’s Airport – Little Mount Section Next Week
After satisfactorily completing trial runs on the 9 km Airport – Little Mount section of the 32.10 km Wimco Nagar – Airport line, the Chennai Metro Rail Ltd. has invited the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) & his team to visit and inspect the line towards the end of next week! The exact dates are unknown right now, so stay tuned for more here & on Twitter.
The CMRS’ inspection of the tracks & trains is mandatory and the last step before commencing commercial operations for any metro system in India. The CMRL is hoping to secure the CMRS’ approval in August and then start commercial operations by the end of August or in September.
Barring the Meenambakkam station, minor interior and exterior finishing works are pending at all other stations. Here are some recent tweets with images of key stations along the route:
