Bangalore Metro’s Phase 2A DPR Submitted to State Govt

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation last week submitted its final Detailed Project Report for Bangalore Metro’s Phase 2A project to the Karnataka Government. This phase involves the construction of a new 18 km metro line linking Silk Board Junction to KR Puram with more than 12 stations along the eastern half of the Outer Ring Road. This news was revealed by the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, L.K. Atheeq, who tweeted this over the weekend:

A preliminary list of stations with their locations can be viewed here.

As per Pradeep Singh Kharola, the BMRCL’s MD, the BMRCL used in-house resources to prepare the DPR in only 4 weeks. The DPR and financial outlay/split, backed in part by corporate funding, is likely to now be taken up for discussion during the state cabinet’s next meeting. Once approved, further details like the project cost, number of stations, alignment of the viaduct and depot’s location will be revealed to the public. Whenever that is done, the land acquisition process can be expected to start and the DPR will be then be submitted to the union government for its cabinet to approve.

That’s correct. Phase 2’s upcoming Silk Board and KR Puram stations’ designs have already been modified to accommodate platforms for Phase 2A’s line. The bidding stage for its construction will start whenever all approvals come through and funding is tied up.

Great to hear that ORR from Silk Board to KR Puram gets a metro, hope it will be fully underground and bot elevated one. Also, it would be better if the line is constructed along the unused defense land borders and not on the road itself as traffic is already a big problem now.

My understanding is that it is fully elevated and will pass through the center of all the split flyovers . Traffic will be a mess for 2 to 3 years .

I firmly believe that for the Outer Ring Road in Bangalore (aka Silk Board to KR Puram), a Tram system is far better suited than Metro. The Tram will be quicker to implement, atleast 5 time cheaper and can be implemented on the existing roads without the need for additional land acquisition.

This is the reason why they have stalled Peripheral ring road PRR. once these politician lands are fully developed they will start PRR road !!! See how far the links are.

Please refer to propsed PRR road here : https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1INwdq-y65gxkJr7Ut40uzpsh9Eo&hl=en&ll=12.94852762818952%2C77.72960991552736&z=13

They have stalled PRR beacuse if that road comes up behind outer ring road property prices will go down on ORR.

And the next point is if u see on the left side of this metro line from HSR layout till marathahalli no residential layouts are there or any comercial buildings. Just to get value for Ecospace and Bagmane which are politicians land they are doing this!!!
