2 Delhi Metro Trains Collide at Magenta Line’s Kalindi Kunj Depot

Two trains from Delhi Metro’s new batch of 504 Hyundai Rotem coaches collided on the evening of November 4 at the upcoming 38.235 km Magenta Line‘s Kalindi Kunj Depot from where trial runs are underway. At this point, it isn’t known if the trains were manually being driven by operators or being driven under the Unattended Train Operation (UTO) mode. No injuries have been reported.

November 5 – 8 am Update: DMRC hasn’t yet divulged any details on this incident. Unless it blows up in the media, I don’t believe the DMRC will go out of its way to announce and tarnish its image.

November 5 – 10 am Update: Some media houses have reported the incident. Anuj Dayal from DMRC’s Corporate Communications Dept just sent this message out to journalists:

I’m hoping the propulsion system of either train hasn’t been damaged.

This collision happened due to irresponsible operation other wise at this point usually trains don’t collide Hyundai rotem coaches are highly advanced no doubt in this driver didn’t judge the distance properly .

Can you update the Delhi Phase III construction progress, it’s been months! How’s the Azadpur rescue shaft extraction going, and the final tunneling to Ashram?

Unfortunate Incident….But even more unfortunate is that the people seen in the Photo are not having sufficient PPE (Personnel Protection Equipment)…they are working so casually…No Helmets..No Safety Shoe…No Nothing…

The photograph suggest that these were the conflicting moves. One of trains have proceeded without proper signal as this accident as per photograph has occurred in the P&C area. Can not comment further as it is not known if the movements were un-signalled. However, i fthis is in Depot, this is NON INTERLOCKED area and pure human error of operations team.
