Commercial Operations Start on Gurgaon Metro’s 7 km Phase 2

Yesterday, the Rapid MetroRail Gurgaon (RMRG) launched commercial operations on their 7 km Phase 2 line at 3 pm in a rather low-key event that was bereft of any political presence that typically comes along with such inaugurations. Everything about its launch, from its sudden announcement, to its newspaper advertisement, to its flagging off ceremony was extremely muted and unlike what has previously been witnessed in the country.

Developed & operated by IL&FS, Phase 2 of the project extends the existing 5.1 km line around DLF Cybercity by a further 7 km south, and connects Sikanderpur with Sector 55-56 via 5 new stations along the way at DLF Phase 1, Sector 42-43, Sector 53-54, Sector 54 Chowk and Sector 55-56 on the Golf Course Road. At this time, they’ve only opened up 3 stations and plan to open the Sector 42-43 and Sector 53-54 stations “soon” after interior finishing works are completed.

Out of 12 3-coach CSR Zhuzhou trains available, RMRG plans to service the line using 10 trains while keeping 2 on standby at a frequency of around 5 minutes.

      early Q3.
Also Magenta line is running 2.5 years behind schedule if you talk about underground.

DMRC has been announcing its opening since Independence day 2016. however has not been able to open it still pushing it every month on month.

They still have bit of interior left here and there and they do not want throw to open half done or incomplete stations.

Actually metro is very busy doing a lot of underground stations and interiors of huge elevated stations. So all the projects are running behind schedule.

Need to wait atleast 4 – 5 months more before they throw open the Heritage Line I guess..

    Hi TMRG

Any data on the traffic numbers . Some reports have claimed that only 30 K people are going to use the new Phase 2 .
I mean 30 – 35 K from phase 1 and another 30 K from phase 2 , thus just 60 – 65 K people using this line of metro .If that is the case then I guess it is too less and the project may become financially nonviable

Being the first 100 % private funded metro in the world , financial soundness would help other projects like our Bangalore ORR which is expected to be funded by private builders.

I heard somewhere that the mayur vihar station will now be a reversal station due to the deadlock at trilokpuri area of delhi.

That’s what even I have read about. Actually it will be the pocket 1 station of the pink line in mayur vihar phase 1 where the line reversal facilities are being provided. Seems like trials will be extended upto this station till the Trilokpuri issue is resolved and/or Vinod nagar depot is ready. Such facilities also do help at times if ever there is a requirement of having to run the trains in short loops. Your comments plz, TMRG. …

Yesterday i passed through road near the NSIC metro station. It seems there is no possibility to complete the station building in the next 3,4 months. Its at a very rudimentary stage. If i am not mistaken DMRC rolled out the first trial run for Magenta line somewhere in June, 2016 at a small stretch, which was later extended till Kalkaji and Botanical Garden. Now its been 10 months. This never happened in phase 2, where trial run goes on for a year. Something is seriously going wrong with DMRC, either at the management level or others. DMRC website itself is ill maintained.

I count the opening of Botanical Garden to Kalkaji in September, 2017 and the rest of the line somewhere in Q1 2018, probably in Feb, March.

Please don’t do such comments on dmrc. I have seen trilokpuri area it is very sensitive. And at hasanpur demolition has started. It is not fault of dmrc. I will go again at trilokpuri and see that demolition has started or not. Rest where there is no hurdle work is going on very fast. Kashmere gate station of violet line only 3 entry gates and interconnection escalators work is going on. It will be completed soon. I hope this line will be opened soon.

Where was any hurdle on magenta line from very first day but same is delayed by more than a year.
DMRC is making fool of people by conducting fake trials;this is first time trials are going on for so long as these are dummy trials.
And bro u are talking of Ito -kashmiri section, the same is delayed by 1.5 years and not open yet ;DMRC is continuous pushing opening date every month despite of such small length of section.
DMRC has stopped regularly updating phase’s 3 progress from last 1 year.
Things are not going well under supervision of new metro chief Mangu Singh as was in past.
No. of Snags has drastically increased over last few months.
What more can clear the picture.

We know that metro construction process is tedious and time consuming but DMRC should tell realistic deadline. In case of heritage line, why they are everytime mentioning that it would open next month and next month never arrives.

I daily cross anand vihar station and see workers working day & night. So, deadline has to be mentioned correctly, so that no undue pressure on them to finish.

On the side node, yellow line is getting busier day by day. During peak hours, whole train till gurgaon is packed. In phase 4, they have not addressed this. In fact, phase 4 is appearing to be not much beneficial when it comes to solving overcrowding.
