Demolition Begins at Hasanpur for Building Delhi Metro’s Pink Line

There’s something for Dilliwalas to cheer about!

Late last month, workers from the ITD-ITD Cem JV (package CC-26R) began demolishing two buildings in Delhi’s Hasanpur village after the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) successfully concluded negotiations with local property owners. The ownership of the land, through which the 58.6 km Line-7’s viaduct will be built, was a mystery since 2011 and the DMRC had no clarity on who owned it – private residents or the Delhi Development Authority. Due to that, a roughly 128m stretch of the line’s viaduct, close to the Vinodpur Depot, lay incomplete.

The DMRC directly negotiated with the residents and paid Rs. 5.91 crores to demolish just the top floors of the buildings. As per Anuj Dayal, the DMRC’s spokesperson, “the owners can rebuild the structure, provided they get the requisite permission from Delhi Metro once the viaduct is constructed.”

And here’s a tweet from a follower showing the status of the nearby Anand Vihar cantilever bridge over the Indian Railways’ lines:

The DMRC recently announced that they’re going to install a track reversal facility at the Mayur Vihar Pocket-1 Station instead of at the Nizamuddin Station. So until the Trilokpuri section of the viaduct is built, they will be forced to run trains in 2 stretches: (1) Mukundpur to Mayur Vihar Pocket-1, and (2) Vinod Nagar to Maujpur. With the line’s other depot at Mukundpur in north Delhi also blocked until the 4th TBM is retrieved from the Gurdwara Shaft, any sort of commercial operations on the Pink Line’s western section is expected to begin only in 2018 with a very slim possibility of 2017-end. The eastern section of the line is expected to open no sooner than mid-2018.

DMRC claimed of opening the whole magenta line in 3 sections from may to september but don’t clear that which are these sections.
Wats ur opinion about time of opening and sections.

I think by now most know that the DMRC’s claims don’t hold up and are purely for buying more time. It’s an unfortunate departure from the standards they upheld previously.

The western section (Mukundpur – Mayur Vihar) depends on when the 4th TBM comes out at the Gurdwara Shaft. Add about a year or so of finishing work + testing + approvals, and you’ll get an idea of when they can start ops. Unlike other underground sections in Delhi or around the country, finishing works won’t delay the line.

The eastern section (Vinod Nagar – Maujpur) depends on the completion of the line at Hasanpur and Anand Vihar. Again, civil work here will easily take another 9-12 months to be completed with operations starting only in the 2nd half of 2018.

The mid section (Mayur Vihar – Vinod Nagar) is a little tricky and really depends on when the affected Trilokpuri residents are rehabilitated. If not with the ‘eastern section’, this will definitely open up last and possibly only towards the end of 2018 or even in 2019.

Bro I have asked about magenta line not pink line ☺.

          • TMRG says:

            My apologies! 🙂
            1) Botanical Garden – Kalkaji: Should open in June or max July. Finishing works at Kalkaji and NSIC are the bottleneck.
            2) Janakpuri – IGI: Should open up before the end of the year
            3) Kalkaji – IGI: Should open up before March next year
There’s a possibility of the entire underground section opening in one go. Let’s see.

I’m unaware of its exact status (span completion, station progress etc.). I do know that they’re prioritizing the City Centre – Sector 71 section to open as soon as possible so that it connects up with the Noida-Gr.Noida line’s opening by the end of the year.

Excellent report as ever. I was looking at your old post having the map of Delhi Metro Phase 4. But the map doesn’t appear now. Is it possible for you to rectify that or provide some link to that map. This will be really appreciated, since the customized maps you draw with google my maps is the best thing ever to view these metro lines on a map.

    Thank you very much.

Hi, can anybody please tell if there would be an interchange between green and pink line. Thanks in advance

    Reply
    • TMRG says:

No proper interchange facility (concourse to concourse) will be present. Users will have the option to utilize a 1 km FOB (work hasn’t started) for changing lines.

Thanks, is there any time limit for the construction of that FOB as pink line is about to get operational by December i guess

        • TMRG says:

I’m unaware. I haven’t seen any communication from the DMRC on it. No signs of a contract for its construction being awarded either.

By the plan involves connecting Pink Line’s Punjabi Bagh West Station with Green Line’s Shivaji Park Station through a series of travelators (horizontal escalators like at IGI T3).
