Phase 2 Information

70 km long Hyderabad Metro Phase 2 project is currently in the proposal stage. In February 2020, its detailed project report (DPR) with 3 new lines & extensions of existing lines was submitted to the Telangana government for approval.

An Airport Express Line was included in 2022 but scrapped in January 2024. The Airport Express Line’s foundation stone was laid by Telangana’s Chief Minister on December 9, 2022. The project was expected to cost Rs. 6,250 crore and be executed by Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML).

Per the latest plan finalized in January 2024 by Telangana’s Chief Minister, Hyderabad Metro’s Phase 2 project will include 6 elevated corridors – all extensions of the existing lines built in the 67 km Phase 1 project. It hasn’t been finalized whether this phase will be developed on the EPC method or on the PPP (Public-Private Partnership) route.
