Gaya Airport – Status, Master Plan & Design
Gaya Airport, also known as Bodhgaya Airport is an operational airport in Gaya, Bihar near Gautama Buddha’s place of enlightenment.
The airport is planned to be upgraded and expanded through the construction of a new passenger terminal building, expansion of Runway 10/28 on Runway 10’s end, and installation of CAT-1 ILS approach lighting for Runway 28.
Further new facilities are proposed for a cargo terminal, removal of encroachment, and construction of drainage facilities in the outer premises of the airport.

Current Status
The project’s expansion has been a non-starter since 2012 due to pending land acquisition. The airport is planned for privatization in 2022 which will likely result in changes to the master plan.
