Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor – Information, Route Map, Tenders & Updates
Menu: News & Construction Updates | Overview
Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor (HORC) project is a 121.742 km proposed semi high-speed rail line connecting Harsana Kalan (Sonipat) and Asaoti (Palwal) in Haryana through 17 stations along the Kundli – Manesar – Palwal (KMP) / Western Peripheral Expressway with an estimated cost of Rs. 4,822.69 crore.
Passenger trains on this new broad gauge line will operate with a top speed of 160 kmph and provide connectivity via Sohna, Manesar and Kharkoda through 14 new and 3 existing stations. Freight trains will link major logistic hubs and will adopt the Dedicated Freight Corridor standard for freight movement.
This new rail corridor aims to bypass Delhi and provide interchange connectivity with the Indian Railways’ main radial routes (eg. Delhi – Rohtak, Delhi – Ambala), the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) at Pirthala (near Palwal), major logistic hubs and the 106.5 km Delhi – SNB RRTS Line at Panchgaon.
Rolling stock and related services will be provided and operated by the Indian Railways.
The project received an in-principle approval from the Haryana government government in December 2018, and will be executed by the Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (HRIDC) and is planned to be financed by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) through a $400 million loan.
In 2021, RITES – SMEC JV was appointed as Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor’s General Consultant.
