Nellore Airport – Status, Master Plan & Design

Nellore Airport is a proposed greenfield domestic airport at Dagadarthi mandal in Nellore District, Andhra Pradesh by Andhra Pradesh Airports Development Corporation Limited.

Nellore Airport’s Detailed Project Report (DPR) was prepared by Nellore Airport Corporation Limited and approved by Andhra Pradesh government in December 2021 on PPP mode. Construction works on Phase 1 are expected to start in April 2022.

The airport will feature a new passenger terminal building, aircraft apron, singular runway, cargo handling and car parking facilities. It’s designed to operate small ATR-72-600 type aircraft and will be able to handle about 200 peak hour passengers.

Current Status

As of January 2022, the district administration has acquired 1,065.3 acres of the required 1,861.20 acres in Dagadarthi, Velupodu, Damavaram, K Korugunta villages.

Location & Access

The project’s site (view on Google Maps) is located at Dagadarthi, north of Nellore and will be accessible via NH-16.
