Shivamogga Airport – Status, Master Plan & Design
Shivamogga Airport is an under construction greenfield airport at Sogane Village near Shimoga, Karnataka by Airports Authority of India (AAI).
After a failed start in the 2000’s, the project was relaunched by Karnataka’s Chief Minister in June 2020. It is expected to become open for commercial operations by 2023-end.
The airport will feature a lotus-shaped passenger terminal building, aircraft apron, singular runway and car parking facilities. It’s designed to operate small ATR-72-600 type aircraft and will be able to handle about 200 peak hour passengers.
