Bengaluru Airport City – Information, Master Plan & Status

Bengaluru Airport City on 463 acres of land is being built at Kempegowda International Airport in Devanahalli, Karnataka by Bengaluru Airport City Ltd. (BACL), a subsidiary of Bangalore International Airport Ltd. (BIAL).

This futuristic smart city’s Phase 1 is expected to be completed and opened in 2026 with close to 2 million sq ft of developments. This includes a concert area, Retail, Dining and Entertainment (RDE) Village, business park, and 775 rooms in a combo hotel (managed by Ginger Vivanta).

Current Status

In 2021, BIAL appointed DP Architects from Singapore and Portland Design from UK as Bangalore Aerocity’s Architectural Consultants. The district will comprise of transit-oriented developments (TOD) of over 45 million sq ft by 2040.

Design & Master Plan

New assets are planned to be launched every two years. Over the next decade, there are plans to develop several business parks, IT parks, a medical district with a world-class multi-specialty hospital, academic institutions, concert arena, over 2,500 hotel rooms and a world-class retail, dining and entertainment district.

The RDE Village at Airport City will be connected with BMTC’s bus service and the Bangalore Metro’s 56 km Blue Line, being built in Phase 2A and Phase 2B.

The concert arena at Airport City, called The Hangar, will have a built up area of 3,00,000 sq. ft. designed by PR Design Group.
