Atal Progressway (Chambal Expressway) – Information & Status

408.77 km Atal Progressway (Chambal Expressway) by NHAI is an approved 4 lane access-controlled highway with a route alignment connecting Etawah (Uttar Pradesh) and Kota (Rajasthan).

This greenfield expressway under Bharatmala Pariyojna (BMP)’s Lot-4/Pkg-4 will connect economically poor regions of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

The project’s Detailed Project Report (DPR) was prepared by L.N. Malviya Infra Projects – Pioneer Infra Consultants JV. Land acquisition for the project is underway.

The expressway will connect NH-27 in Seemalya Village near Kota district, Rajasthan with Nanawa village in Etwawah district, Uttar Pradesh.

On the eastern-end, it was start from the operational Agra-Lucknow Expressway near Etwah and run parallel to Chambal river via Bhind, Morena, Gwalior and Shivpuri. An interchange will be constructed near Gwalior to connect with the 88 km Agra – Gwalior Expressway.

On the western-end, an interchange will be constructed near Kota to connect with the under construction 1350 km Delhi – Mumbai Expressway.

Current Status

In June 2022, NHAI applied for Environmental Clearance. Land acquisition for the project is underway.

Tenders & Contractors

NHAI started publishing tender notices for Atal Progressway’s construction work in December 2022. Tenders for Packages 3-6 were cancelled in January 2024.
