Dhubri – Phulbari Bridge – Information & Updates

19 km long Dhubri Phulbari Bridge is an under construction 4 lane bridge project over Brahmaputra River connecting Dhubri in Assam and Phulbari in Meghalaya.

The project’s civil construction work is being done by Larsen & Toubro (L&T) for the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corp. Ltd (NHIDCL) and funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The project is estimated to cost Rs 3165.99 crore. It aims to reduce the road distance between the two states by 203 km and improve the connectivity of India’s north-eastern states with the rest of the country.

The bridge’s first precast segment was launched by L&T in February 2022. Dhubri Phulbari Bridge is planned to be completed and opened in September 2028 (current deadline).

Design

The 19 km long project will carry National Highway 127-B and features an extradosed bridge of 12.625 km length supported by well foundations. On either side, it’ll have approach interchanges and viaducts of 3.5 km on the Dhubri side and 2.2 km on the Phulbari side.

Current Status

Dhubri Phulbari Bridge is planned to be completed and opened in 2028 (current deadline).
