Information
Coimbatore (Kovai) Metro with 5 lines is a mass rapid transit system (MRTS) proposed to be built in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu by the Chennai Metro Rail Ltd (CMRL).
Coimbatore Metro’s Phase 1 project has been on the drawing board since at least 2011. In 2017, Chennai Metro Rail Ltd. was appointed as the Project Executing Agency (PEA) and immediately invited bids for its feasibility study and Detailed Project Report (DPR) in 2 stages, funded by the German government through the KfW development bank.
In November 2019, a consortium of SYSTRA MVA Consulting (India) Ltd. – RITES Ltd. submitted its feasibility report for a 136 km master plan to the CMRL. If and when approved, a detailed project report (DPR) will be prepared.

Coimbatore Metro Fares (Ticket Prices)
Coimbatore Metro’s fare prices, structure and rules have not been finalized or announced yet. That will be done closer to the start of commercial operations.
