Vijayapur Airport – Status, Master Plan & Design

Sri Jagajyothi Basveshwara Airport, also known as Vijayapur Airport or Bijapur Airport, is an under construction new greenfield airport at Bharanapura and Madabhavi villages of Karnataka by Airports Authority of India (AAI).

The new airport will feature a passenger terminal building, aircraft apron, singular 1.9 km runway and car parking facilities. It’s designed to operate small ATR-72-600 type aircraft and will be able to handle about 200 peak hour passengers.

Vijayapur Airport is expected to be completed and opened in August 2023.

Location & Access

Vijayapur Airport’s project site (view on Google Maps) is located east of Vijayapur near Bharanapura and Madabhavi villages.

Terminal Design

The airport’s passenger terminal was designed by Kembhavi Architects and will resemble the temples of Hampi.
