Hyderabad Metro Airport Express – Information, Route Map & Update
Hyderabad Metro’s Airport Express Line is a proposed will semi-high speed rail line that’ll connect Mindspace Junction and Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad via 10 stations.
This 31 km line of the Hyderabad Metro Phase 2 project will be funded by Telangana Government and executed by HAML (Hyderabad Airport Metro Ltd). Its foundation stone was laid by Telangana’s Chief Minister on December 9, 2022.
The project’s Detailed Project Report (DPR) was prepared by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) in 2018-19. It has not been made available online.
The line is expected to be completed and opened in 2029. An official deadline has not been set. 3 coach trains (expandable to 6) are planned to be operated with a maximum speed of 120 kmph.

In April 2023, SYSTRA – RITES – DB Engineering JV was declared as the preferred bidder for the General Consultant (GC) contract – see details.
HAML expects the assigned consultant to be onboard for 36 months and speedily implement this line through assistance in design, supervision, safety, quality control and contract management.
In July 2023, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) was declared as the lowest bidder for the line’s civil construction and system procurement – see details.
I expect the line to be completed and opened in 2029. An official deadline has not been set yet.
This mostly-elevated new line will run through Gachibowli and Himayathsagar via the Outer Ring Road (ORR) to connect up with Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad. It will run 2.5 km underground at the airport within Hyderabad Aerocity.
