Current Status
In June 2024, India’s Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) invited bids to appoint a consultant for developing Jamnagar – Bharuch Expressway’s Detailed Project Report (DPR) under 2 packages:
- Package 3: Jamnagar – Rajkot – Bhavnagar (248 km)
- Package 4: Bhavnagar – Bharuch (68 km) – this includes a roughly 30 km bridge over the Gulf of Khambat
In November 2024, MoRTH received 15 bids from 14 firms – see bidder list.
The consultant will suggest whether to develop the corridor as a semi access-controlled ‘economic corridor’ or a full-fledged expressway with better design and safety standards.
