Hosur Airport – Status, Master Plan & Design

Hosur Airport project is a proposed new greenfield airport planned to be built in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu, India.

The airport will serve as Bengaluru (Bangalore)’s second airport after the operational Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) located in Devanahalli, Karnataka.

Hosur Airport’s Phase 1 is expected to be completed and opened to passengers no sooner than 2030.

Current Status

Hosur Airport’s Detailed Project Report (DPR) has not been prepared. A consultant to prepare the DPR has not yet been appointed. Land acquisition for Hosur Airport has not yet started.

Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister MK Stalin in June 2024 announced Hosur Airport will be developed on a site over 2000 acres and be designed to handle 30 million passengers a year.

Location

Hosur Airport’s goal is to improve regional development and tourism. Its site’s location in Krishnagiri district, south of Bengaluru, has not been finalized but is planned to be connected to NH-44 and Bangalore Metro‘s Yellow Line.
