Raxaul – Haldia Expressway – Information & Status
695 km Raxual – Haldia Expressway by NHAI is a proposed 4/6 lane access-controlled highway with a route alignment connecting Raxual in East Champaran district of Bihar and Haldia Port in West Bengal.
This greenfield expressway under Bharatmala Pariyojna (BMP) Phase 2 aims to improve the efficiency of freight movement and boost exports from Nepal, Bihar and Jharkhand.
The expressway is expected to be completed and opened in 2028. Its Detailed Project Report (DPR) has not been made available online. In June 2021, NHAI received 13 bids for its preparation with a 300 day deadline.

This expressway’s alignment will see it diagonally cut through Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. Along the way, it will pass by Muzaffarpur in Bihar and Asansol – Durgapur in West Bengal. An accurate image of its alignment, design and civil features will appear when the DPR’s first draft is created.
Current Status
The expressway’s DPR and detailed design are being prepared for different sections. Land acquisition process has not yet started.
