Sirhind – Sehna Expressway – Information & Status
108 km Sirhind – Sehna Expressway by NHAI is a proposed 6 lane access-controlled highway with a route alignment in Punjab connecting Fatehgarh Sahib and Sehna Khera via Malerkotla, Barnala and Bathinda.
This greenfield expressway under Bharatmala Pariyojna Phase II (Lot-9) will serve as an east-west expressway through southern Punjab. Land acquisition for the project started in December 2020.
The project’s Detailed Project Report (DPR) was prepared by Egis India Consulting Engineers and K & J Projects. Its pre-feasibility report’s PDF can be viewed here.

The expressway will pass through 5 districts of Punjab: Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala, Malerkotla, Sangrur and Barnala. An interchange will be built near Malerkotla to connect with the under construction Delhi – Amritsar – Katra Expressway.
Current Status
Land acquisition is underway. Bidding for construction has not yet started.
