Palghar Airport – Status, Master Plan & Design

Palghar Airport project is a proposed new greenfield airport planned to be built in Palghar district of Maharashtra, India.

The airport will serve as Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR)’s third airport after the operational Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) and the under construction Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMI) in Panvel.

Current Status

Palghar Airport’s Detailed Project Report (DPR) has not been prepared. A consultant to prepare the DPR has not yet been appointed. Land acquisition for Palghar Airport has not yet started.

Palghar Airport’s Phase 1 is expected to be completed and opened to passengers no sooner than 2030.

Location

Palghar Airport’s goal is to improve regional development and tourism. Its site’s location in Palghar district, north of Mumbai, has not been finalized but is planned to be connected to the Delhi – Mumbai Expressway via a spur.
