Pune Purandar Airport – Status, Master Plan & Design

Pune’s new greenfield airport is a proposed project in Purandar, Maharashtra proposed by City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO).

The new airport project’s site was originally finalized in Purandar, but cancelled as the Ministry of Defence withdrew its no objection certificate (NOC) in September 2021. A new site within Pune District is yet to be finalized and announced.

When ready, all operations from the existing Pune International Airport will be moved to Pune’s new airport. The current airport currently shares infrastructure with the IAF’s Lohegaon Airforce Station, which severely restricts aircraft movement and has reached its design capacity.

The new airport will benefit Pune and surrounding towns of Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli and Ahmednagar.
