Pegmarking for Kochi Metro’s Tripunithura extension begins

Pegmarking has begun for the metro’s southern extension to Tripunithura as part of an extension of the project’s first phase. This 1.5 km long extension will consist of stations at Alliance Junction and SN Junction.  Following this, the land acquisition will be kickstarted by the Revenue Department.

While the Central Government still has to give its approval for the project, the MD of the KMRL, Elias George,  expects to receive it shortly. The MD has indicated that he’ll be meeting with the Urban Development Secretary to get set the ball rolling for approval. The state government has already approved the extension which is expected to cost Rs 323 crores.
