Design of Nagpur’s 7 Storey Metro Bhavan at Ramdaspeth Unveiled

The design of Nagpur’s Metro Bhavan for administrative purposes was made public earlier this year and given its importance to the metro operations in the city, it just had to be highlighted on The Metro Rail Guy!

Work on the 7 storey building is currently underway at a cost of Rs 23 crore in the Ramdaspeth area and will be completed by the end of 2016. The architect of the building has not been revealed, but if I were to narrow it down by region, it must have been someone local since the MD of the project, Mr. Brijesh Dixit, a couple weeks ago revealed that local architects have been appointed to design all facets of the project – from the stations (eg. the important Munje square interchange station) to the glass viewing gallery at the Ambajhari lake station which will give users a nice view of the lake.

Here are some basic renders of the building:

It looks little top-heavy and sarkari type, but I still like it.  As a metro user, I’d be more concerned about how reliable & punctual the services are instead of what a building’s design, over which I have no control, looks like. Whenever I come across an image of it under construction, I will make sure to post about it. Hopefully it turns out good!
