Ahmedabad Metro Completes Casting First Pier Cap at Nirant Cross Roads

With that, the first pier is now ready! This pier is part of the 6 km Apparel Park – Vastral Gam section of the 20.536 km east-west line which is being constructed by J Kumar Infraprojects:

Work on this section continues well into the night. Here’s another image of workers tying up rebar to prepare for a concrete pour at another pier:

When at least 20-30 piers will be ready which I reckon would be by February, J Kumar will then start launching precast segments (see images of them being cast) to form the line’s elevated viaduct using a special segment launching crane – see example from Bangalore.
