10 Bidders for Ludhiana – Rupnagar Expressway’s Package 2
10 construction firms have submitted bids to construct Package 2 of the 91 km Ludhiana – Rupnagar Expressway (NH-205K), after the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) opened technical bids today.
This 6 lane greenfield access-controlled project in Punjab with 3 packages will connect Manewal village on the Delhi – Katra Expressway (NE-5) with Bheora village near Rupnagar (Ropar). It will also feature an additional 25 km spur to Kharar, just east of Chandigarh and Mohali.
Technical Bids for the project’s 37.7 km Package 1 on the western-end were opened earlier this month to reveal 12 bidders – see list and scope.
Package 2 is 46.80 km long and lies right in the middle of the project from chainage 37.700 to 66.000. It also includes a portion of Ludhiana Bypass (Ludhiana Ring Road) from chainage 0.000 to chainage 18.500.
NHAI invited tenders for its construction in mid-January 2021 with a Rs. 992.71 crore estimate and 2 year deadline.
Bidders:
- Ceigall India
- Chetak Enterprises
- GR Infraprojects
- HG Infra Engineers
- IRCON International
- Krishna Constructions
- Megha Engineering Infrastructures

The following map is from the government’s environment clearance site. The main expressway’s alignment is shown in red color while the spur is shown in aqua.
The bids have now been sent for technical bid evaluation which can take a couple months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely contractor.
This expressway with 3 packages has been designed with a 60m ROW (right of way) at an estimated cost of Rs. 2792 crore. More design details and a list of its packages can be viewed here. Technical bids for Package 3 are currently planned to be opened on July 27, so stay tuned for a post on that.

Hi TMRG!
I am a regular on your website. I have been following you since 2017 maybe, when you were just tweating about metro construction updates. I chip a $1 every month coz I really believe your work is important.
The site has come a long way and may congrats on that!
I have a suggestion for a new section. You can call in “Just opened” or “Just commenced operations” to list all the projects that have been successfully operationalized. And then link that page to the updates page so that readers can see a timeline of events leading up to the operationalization of a project.
In India a lot of chatter regarding infrastructure happens. Quite a few of them don’t see the light of the day inspite of money and time being spent on them. Also, you track the journey so well. I believe it’s worthwhile to document the end goal in a nice way.
Let me know what your thoughts are regarding this.
Good luck and keep up the good work 🙂
Best
Govind
Hey Govind, this is a great idea. Maybe I can list it within the Quick Snapshot page or even link inauguration posts to the existing history section. I’ll need to let it marinate for a bit and explore further.
TMRG, I’ve heard that BMRCL have resume the work over NICE Road of Namma Metro Yelloew Line. Well is it true. I just need a confirmation.
