Track Work Begins on Delhi Metro Blue Line’s Najafgarh Extension
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s contractors have started laying & installing tracks on the 2.75 km elevated section of the 4.3 km extension of the Blue Line to Najafgarh!
The elevated portion of this extension (project CC-50) was awarded to ITD Cementation India Ltd. in September 2013 and starts from the existing Dwarka station where a new station building is under construction, crosses over the Najafgarh Drain, and then runs on Chatrapati Shivaji Marg with a station at Nangli. Further westward, the line descends into the Sai Baba Mandir Shaft via a 595m ramp from where a TBM deployed by HCC (project CC-66) is currently tunneling towards the Najafgarh Metro station.

The DMRC has not indicated whether they’ll begin commercial operations to Nangli Metro station or wait until the tunneling works to the Najafgarh station are completed. If they choose to wait, then trains will start running only in 2018.

I am wondering if this will be connected to Blue line or just a branch from Dwarka to Najafgarh. Because, it is very difficult to connect with existing running metro lines. What do you say about this?
Hi, It’ll connect the Dwarka station via an adjacent station building and operate as if it’s a separate line.
DMRC : 2018, beginning date from Najafgarh Metro is too late. Please start from Sai Baba Mandir as soon as possible. we are in a great trouble to change from Dwarka Station.

The Nangli-Najafgarh underground portion is under construction. Of the 2 tunnels, 1 will be physically ready this month (TBM breakthrough expected anytime now) while the other one will be in mid-2017. It’ll take another 9 months or so after that to make the underground portion operational.
What is the status of extension of metro to dhansa Stand Najafgarh..when it will start
Hi, the Dhansa Stand extension has not been included in the Phase 4 project. Plans always change, and like the Najafgarh line, it could be included in the coming years.
PS: The Najafgarh/MCD station was designed to be underground in order to extend the line to Dhansa Stand in the future. An elevated alignment wouldn’t have been possible.
it is in pipeline. DMRC submitted to the government all the things i.e. proposal, estimate etc. and is waiting funds to be sanctioned by the Union Urban development Ministry. as the government releases funds they will start to extend the line to Dhansa Stand.
DMRC: This is a step-behaved with Najafgarh Residents-employees to extend Dhansa Stand. Please start from Najafgarh first and then think about extension from Najafgarh please. All the employees in Najafgarh are fed-up from this decision. Please consider again and start from Najafgarh on the behalf of request from Najafgarh employees.
Will the line upto nangli be open to public by 2017?
Nope. There’s a major land acquisition issue between Dwarka station and Najafgarh drain.
What about the opening of this dwarka – najafgarh line ?
Sometime in mid 2018. They just resolved 2 major land acquisition issues in Dwarka by the Najafgarh drain. Bids for completing balance works at Nangli have also been invited. Besides that, there’s one last underground tunnel still under construction.
There are two issues to connect Najaf garh with metro, one to provide connectivity only, and other to reduce traffic load from roads at Najaf garh.I think traffic problem can be overcome by extending metro line up to Dhansa Stand only otherwise there will be a new traffic jam point at Delhi gate.
Hence it is essential to take metro up to Dhansa stand.
Please clearly mention the exact running date of Dwarka Nazafgarh metro..earlier the deadline of this route was December 2016. .so why delay
DMRC has not announced any new deadline, but it is expected to open in December 2018 due to pending tunneling works as well as land acquisition issues.

I thought the completion date was rescheduled to december 2017? You have stated mid 2018 . Is that comfirmed or will it be further delayed.
Is the new station at dwarka being interconnected with the existing one ?
I can’t guess if the project will be further delayed, but I expect it to open only in 2018. Yes, the new station has been built right opposite the existing one.

That extension has not been included in Phase 4’s plans. Maybe the Delhi govt will include it in Phase 5? Let’s see.

No use . Instead creating a separate line they should hae linked it to directly with existing lines whether vaishali or noida. A pessanger has to change at dwarka station. It takes around 15 minutes. Totally wastage of time
Linking directly with existing lines have increased the viability of the route instead of creating separate line. People living near nangli will take metro for one station then will waste their 15 minutes just to change line..they should have operated vaishali to najafgarh directly.
