[Pics] Delhi’s Pink line crossing Airport Express Line

With the new 58.6 km long Pink line under construction on the Ring Road, Delhi’s got yet another place where 2 lines cross each other in some fashion or the other. Most of these go on to form an interchange (eg. Karkardooma, Mayur Vihar), but in this one particular case at Dhaula Kuan, the lines don’t form an interchange since the Airport Line’s station hasn’t been built on the intersection of the Ring Road and NH-8. Instead it’s been built a couple hundred meters down NH-8 due to which the lines simply cross one another without allowing passengers to make a smooth transfer. While this reduces the utility of the Airport Express line and doesn’t give it a second chance at being awesome, it does on the other hand form a sweet point of interest/landmark.

Note: These images are from September/October 2014 and the viaduct has long been completed at this section. This line is expected to open in parts starting late 2016.
