Land for a second Depot to serve Mumbai Metro’s line 2 found

After land for one of Line 2’s Depots was found and reserved in Malvani near Malad (read: Good & Bad news for Mumbai’s Line 2 & 3’s Depots), the Maharashtra government has found another plot in Mankhurd for setting up another depot to serve the Charkop-Bandra-Mankhurd line.

From what I’ve gathered from here, last month the state urban development department issued a notice inviting suggestions & objections to its decision to remove a plot earmarked at Mandala (in Mankhurd) from a residential zone and convert it into a Metro depot fit for commercial use as well. This plot doesn’t lie in the Coastal Regulation Zone and there are no mangroves which will destroyed, so there won’t be any restrictions on construction like there has been for the last 8 years or so.
