Western Ghats to be Kochi Metro’s Theme

To add to the allure of the Metro system and give an impetus to tourism, the Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) has decided to to adopt the Western Ghats as the overall theme for its 22 stations. Out of these, 6 stations will have their own distinct special themes.

These suggestions were made by Tata Elxis, the metro’s customer-experience consultant who had suggested area-specific themes for the stations aimed at helping local commuters and tourists to be aware of the history & significance of each area along the metro line.

The 6 stations and their chosen distinct themes are:

  1. Aluva – Western Ghat
  2. CUSAT – Maritime History of Kochi
  3. Edappally – Spice Route
  4. Changampuzha Park – Art, Culture & Literature of Kerala
  5. JLN Stadium – Sports Heritage of Kerala
  6. MG Road – Special focus on history of Ernakulam/Kochi

The Metro project is progressing as per schedule (See: Latest Images of Kochi Metro’s Completed Sections), so in another 10 months or so, we’ll finally be able to get a good look at the themes!
