Okhla Bird Sanctuary – Noida Sec 142 & Noida Sec 71/51 – Knowledge Park V Metro Lines Approved

On September 18, a joint board of the Noida and Greater Noida Authorities approved the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for 2 new metro corridors:

  1. Okhla Bird Sanctuary to Sector 142 in Noida – a 10.92 km brand new line along the Noida-Gr.Noida Expressway
  2. Noida Sector 71/51 to Knowledge Park V in ‘Noida Extension’/Greater Noida west – a 14.95 km extension of the under construction Noida Sector 71/51 to Greater Noida line

Here’s a map I’ve made which shows both these corridors:

As you can see above, the Okhla Bird Sanctuary to Sector 142 line (shown in green) will start from the Delhi Metro’s Magenta line (line 8), thus forming yet another interchange station on the Delhi Metro’s network.  According to the DPR, the line is estimated to cost Rs 2,127 crore and there will be a total of eight stations along the 10.92 km route at Okhla Bird Sanctuary, Sector 91, Sector 93, Sector 94, Sector 98, Sector 125, Sector 136 and Sector 142.

The Noida Sector 71/51 to Knowledge Park V line is estimated to cost Rs 3,884 crore. On this 14.95 km route, stations will be built at Noida’s Sectors 122, Sector 123, Greater Noida Sector 4, Ecotech 12, and Greater Noida’s sectors 2, 3 and 10.

The DPRs will now be sent to the state government for their approval after which a MoU is expected to be signed in the next six months. Following that, the tendering process will begin!
