Delhi Metro Starts 2nd TBM Between Greater Kailash and Nehru Enclave on Magenta Line

On October 30 (Friday), the Pratibha-FEMC team which is in-charge of contract CC-23 of the Delhi Metro’s Phase 3 project between Hauz Khas and Kalkaji Mandir started tunneling on the down-line tunnel from the Greater Kailash station’s shaft towards the Nehru Enclave station’s shaft! The distance between the two shafts is about 1.1 kms.

The TBM working on the up-line tunnel started tunneling in August and has so far completed 200 rings which translates into roughly 280 meters.

Whenever I get a hold of an image of this TBM at the shaft, I’ll make sure to update this post. The TBM on the up-line is expected to make a breakthrough in March 2016 while the down-line TBM that just started is expected to make a breakthrough in May 2016.
