Three joint venture companies are in the race for the General Consultant (GC) role of Nagpur’s 38.215 km metro project! The GC’s role would include managing contracts and supervising the overall construction & implementation of the project on behalf of the Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. The following 3 JVs were shortlisted in the EOI (expression of interest) phase and are now expected to submit their technical & financial bids by February 22 2016:

1. Systra – Egis Rail – AECOM Asia – RITES JV

2. Deutschbahn International – Deutschbahn Projektbau GmbH – Hill International – Oriental Consultants Global Co Ltd – Balaji Railroad Systems – Padeco JV

The bids are expected to be opened on February 24 after which they’ll be scrutinized & evaluated. Unlike the bidding criteria for construction contracts which is ultimately decided by the financial bid, the final contract for the GC’s role will be based on scrutinizing both the technical (weighed at 80%) and financial (weight 20% weight) bids in one go.

The contract for the General Consultant’s role is expected to be given out by March 15. Once that is done, they will replace personnel from RITES & the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation who’ve been helping out the NMRCL as the projects’s interim consultants since April 2015.
