The Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. has tasked Larsen & Toubro Ltd. with building a further 1 km elevated extension of the metro’s priority corridor from the under construction Transport Nagar station to the proposed Amausi station! This piece of information was revealed (note: link downloads PDF) by the LMRCL’s Managing Director to the media yesterday:
The L&T company will be starting the construction of the Lucknow Metro from Amausi to Transportnagar shortly. It will take them a month’s time to mobilise the resources and identify the utilities as well as building the barricades.
The LMRCL did not invite bids for this section and instead changed the scope of the 8.48 km priority corridor (contract LKCC-01) which is under construction between Charbagh and Transport Nagar. This 1 km extension will cost Rs 52 crores and does not include the underground Amausi station which will be made a part of a separate underground contract towards the Airport.
Overall, the construction of the priority corridor is progressing quite satisfactorily with a targeted completion of December 2016, so that operations can begin by February 2017. Recent images can be found in the Lucknow section and in the media section of my Twitter account: @TheMetroRailGuy.
Contractors for 3 more sections will be soon be assigned to construct the entire 22.878 km north-south line:
|LKCC-06||Charbagh – KD Singh Babu
(Underground – 3.44 km)
|RFQ stage completed & 5 bidders qualified. LMRC is waiting for the European Investment Bank’s nod to carry out the financial evaluation. Financial bids expected to be opened in the first week of April.|
|LKCC-07||KD Singh Babu – Munshipulia
(Elevated – 8.63 km)
|Tenders invited in February & sale of documents ended on March 15. Pre-bid meeting will take place on March 21. Financial bids will be opened in May.|
|LKCC-XX||Amausi – CCS Airport
(Underground – 1 km)
|LMRCL will invite tenders after the approval of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) who wants the Airport station to be built farther away from the terminal due to security reasons|
