500th U-Girder Launched for Lucknow Metro’s Priority Corridor

On Tuesday, a crew from Larsen & Toubro (L&T) successfully launched the 500th U-girder to be used for constructing the 8.48 km ‘priority corridor’ of Lucknow Metro’s 22.878 km north-south line! The event, for package LKCC-01 (Amausi – Charbagh), took place just north of Mawaiyya station close to where the 255m long cantilever bridge is coming up over the Indian Railways’ lines.

The U-girders used in this project are 27 meters long, weigh 150 tonnes and are cast at an off-site location adjacent to the CCSI Airport. The first ever U-girder for the project was launched on May 10, 2015 and now only another 35 more are left to be placed.
