Construction Begins on High-Speed Rail Training Centre in Vadodara

During the launch event for the 508 km Mumbai and Ahmedabad high-speed rail line, prime ministers Narendra Modi and Shinzo Abe kicked-off the start of civil works, via video conferencing, for a new High-Speed Rail Training Centre at the National Academy of Indian Railways (NAIR) campus in Vadodara.

The new facility will come up on 4.91 hectare land parcel, cost Rs 600 crores and is expected to be ready by the end of 2020. The facility will be capable of training 4000 staff members in the project’s execution, operation and maintenance. While it’s under construction, three hundred rail engineers will initially be trained in Japan to give them exposure to HSR technology to assist in the development and operations of this and future lines, which include Delhi – Kolkata, Delhi – Chandigarh, Mumbai – Bangalore – Chennai etc.

No Update on this Project since then. Not only from TMRG, but I haven’t come across any other News Report, Tweet, Update on Social Media about this project. Seems like it has gone in Deep Freeze. Any Reasons for this? Problems with Alignment? Land Acquisition? What is holding it back when PM has announced an aggressive Deadline?
