HCC-Al Fara’a Lowest Bidder for 9 Stations on Pune Metro’s Line-1

A consortium of India’s Hindustan Construction Company and UAE’s Al Fara’a Group has emerged as the lowest bidder for constructing 9 elevated stations on Pune Metro’s 16.589 km Line-1 between Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and Swargate after officials from the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MahaMetro) this weekend opened the financial bids submitted by different civil infrastructure companies.

These stations are a part of the 10.795 km Reach-1 (PCMC – Range Hills) which will go on to be the first section of the 31.254 km Phase 1 project to get ready and go live. MahaMetro invited bids for this package (P1C-03) in May 2017 with an estimated cost of Rs 508.36 crores, and the HCC-AL Fara’a JV put in the lowest bid at Rs. 497.09 crores.

Here are the financial bid values submitted by the lowest technically qualified firms:

Firm Bid
HCC-Al Fara’a Rs. 497.09 cr
TPL-Gulermak Rs. 547.12 cr
Afcons Rs. 552.07 cr
IL&FS Rs. 560.66 cr
NCC Rs. 581.12 cr

Simplex Infra’s bid was disqualified and not opened.

The 9 stations in this package will be built on the median of the Old Mumbai – Pune Highway, and will be located at PCMC, Tukaram Nagar, Bhosari (Nashik Phata), Kasarwadi, Phugewadi, Dapodi, Bopodi, Khadki and Range Hills:

A concept design of a typical elevated station, tweeted out by MahaMetro’s social media team, can be viewed here. If no issues arise, then in the coming days MahaMetro will go on to award HCC-Al Fara’a with the 31.254 km Phase 1 project’s 3rd major civil contract – see a list of contractors here. Once awarded, MahaMetro would like work to be completed within 110 weeks (approx. 2 years).

It’s true. Their bid was below MahaMetro’s estimate, so it was only a matter of time for the contract to be awarded.
