CMRS Approves Kochi Metro’s 2nd Stretch for Operations
Kochi Metro Rail Ltd has announced that it has received the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS)’s final approval for commencing commercial operations on the new 5 km Palarivattom – Maharaja’s College section of the city’s 25.612 km Line-1. This formal approval was received shortly after the CMRS from the Indian Railways’ southern circle, KA Manoharan, and his team conducted a 2-day visual inspection of the line on September 25-26 to check how fit it is to run safe services.
A list of conditions, corrections or requirements hasn’t been disclosed but will be added here when available.
This new elevated section of Line-1 runs on Banerjee Road and MG Road, and once operational will extend the 13.2 km operational line deep into the city center through 5 new stations at JLN Stadium, Kaloor, Lisie, MG Road and Maharaja’s College –
In addition to the images posted earlier, here are some new snaps from the 2nd day of inspections –
This new section is scheduled to be inaugurated on October 3 at 11 am with commercial operations commencing on October 4 at 6 am. Stay tuned!

Congrats to Kochihites..
This is nemesis, under 17/world cup at Kochi will have metro connectivity while at Kolkata same world cup matches at salt lake stadium which has a METRO station will have no connectivity. The station was completed structurally in 2012.
True that. Honestly pains me to see how things have and continue to play out in Kolkata.
We are expecting what speed restrictions noted by CMRS at Sheematti curve near M G Road station….this is the most biggest curve in the entire stretch……
sharpest curve?
This has started today , TMRG seams to have gone again on a long trip
Hi, just posted about its inauguration. As much as I want, I just can’t cover each event as it happens or write every day due to the other commitments.
