3 Bidders for Gurgaon Section of Delhi – Alwar RRTS Line

Three construction firms have submitted bids to build the 8.5 km Gurgaon section of the 164 km Delhi – SNB – Alwar Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) line after officials from the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) opened tender packets in mid-February.

This entirely elevated section on NH-48 with 3 stations at Udyog Vihar (IDPL Complex), Sector-17 and Rajiv Chowk will be the first portion of the line where construction work is expected to commence this year.

Scope: Construction of the Elevated Viaduct from end of the Ramp at IDPL Complex to Start of Ramp at Rajiv Chowk and three nos. of Elevated Stations viz., Udyog Vihar, Sector-17 and Rajiv Chowk of Delhi- SNB Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) Corridor.[DA/CN/COR-OF/014]

The three firms are –

• Cherian Varkey Construction Co. Pvt. Ltd. (CVCC)
• G R Infraprojects Ltd. (GRIL)
• Tata Projects Ltd. (TPL)

At this time, it’s unknown if they bid in a consortium / JV with another firm or not.

Tenders/bids for this section’s construction under contract COR-OF/014 were invited in November 2019, and the prequalification documents & technical bids were opened on February 14. Since then, NCRTC has been conducting technical bid evaluation.

This section’s geotechnical investigation contract was awarded to CEG Test House and Research Pvt. Ltd. in February 2019, and Continental Piling & Excavation won the contract for conducting initial pile load tests in March 2019.

Last month, L&T Infrastructure Engineering Ltd. got assigned as the Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) for this section to assist NCRTC with producing and proposing alternate designs of all civil, architectural, building services, electrical and mechanical works. The opening of financial bids is just weeks, if not days, away – so stay tuned to find out who’s the lowest bidder.

    I am 64+ elect engr. Looking in transport. I am sure, future in India belong to sky walk be it smart city and hills ; metrino, ropeway, public n material etc.
