Aarvee Wins Kochi Metro Phase 1B’s Project Mgmt Consultant Contract

Aarvee Associates Architects Engineers & Consultants in late-June won the Project Management Consultant (PMC) contract for Kochi Metro Phase 1B’s 2.95 km extension from Petta to Tripunithura through 2 stations at Vadakkekotta and SN Junction.

Aarvee Associates’ selection was made through the Quality Cum Cost Based Selection (QCBS) method where proposals were ranked and scored according to their combined technical and financial score. Aarvee scored the highest technical score and also placed the lowest bid.

Kochi Metro Rail Ltd. invited tenders for this contract on February 11, 2020 with a submission deadline of May 26. Technical bids were opened on May 29 to reveal a list of 4 bidders.

Brief Scope of KMRL/PRJ/PHASE1EXT/PMC/19/TEN1: Project Management Consultant (PMC) for Kochi Metro Rail Project Phase 1 extension from Petta to Tripunithura terminal covering a distance of 3 km including Panamkutty River Bridge

If no issues arise during financial bid evaluation, then Aarvee Associates will go on to be awarded, if not already, with Kochi Metro Phase 1B’s PMC contract. They will perform a similar role to that of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation for the Phase 1 project.

Here’s a quick status of Phase 1B’s 2 civil sections:

• Petta – SN Junction (1.79 km) – Under construction by KEC International – China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (KEC-CCECC) JV through a Rs. 265 crore contract it won in June 2019.
  
• SN Junction – Tripunithura (1.163 km) – KMRL invited bids for this section’s civil construction earlier in May. The last date to submit bids is July 14. LKT Engineering Consultants was awarded this section’s Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) contract on May 18.
