KEC-VNC JV Begins Piling for Kochi Metro’s Extension
KEC International Ltd. – Vijay Nirman Company Pvt. Ltd. in the presence of Kochi Metro Rail Ltd. (KMRL)’s officials today began piling works for conducting a pile load test to construct Kochi Metro’s 1.163 km elevated extension from S.N. Junction to Thrippunithura.
KEC-VNC JV was awarded this section (Package KAC-4)’s Rs. 162.98 crore contract in late-July after they emerged as its lowest bidder on July 24. KEC-VNC is chasing a deadline of just 20 months and might utilize KEC-CCECC JV’s existing casting yard for the 1.78 km Package KAC-2 (Petta – Vadakkekotta – S.N. Junction).
Scope: Construction of Viaduct from S.N. Junction to Thrippunithura (from Ch. 26+962 to 28+125) including one Elevated Stations i.e Thrippunithura Terminal (at Ch. 27+781.90) for Phase 1 Extension of Kochi Metro Rail Project Excluding Architectural and Building Services Works of Stations.
With this development, the entire Petta – Thrippunithura section of the 2.95 km Kochi Metro Phase 1B project is now under construction.
